F.A.Q.

These thermal insulation systems, can be applied on any surface?

Thermal insulation systems Shield Coat can be applied on any type of surface: glass, wood, concrete, masonite, metals in general. In the case of applications particularly smooth surfaces, we recommend applying a primer designed to increase grip. In case of application of Shield Coat 600 version, the application of the primer is highly recommended, either to increase the grip both to improve the behavior of the system to the thermal expansion of the underlying support. Always for the 600° C system is strongly recommended the application of consolidating finish, in order to give more structure to the system, since you may experience weakness in the presence of strong vibrations.

What is thermal reduction?

With a thickness of 8 mm, it is possible to achieve a reduction of 80%.

What is the recommended thickness of product to have an excellent thermal protection?

Thickness is a function of temperature to be obtained. Recommended minimum thickness is 6 mm, which can be obtained with 2 coats of product application. This product is very light and does not drip.

How do I apply these products?

Our thermal insulation systems can be applied as a common paint: spray, brush, roller, spatula.

How long will it take for the product to dry?
The total time total of polymerisation of the product is 24-48 hours, depending on weather conditions. Between a hand and the other simply wait 2-4 hours, to allow the surface to dry (out-dust)

How these products behave in the presence of strong corrosion?
Our systems Shield Coat, solve the problem of corrosion under insulation. They are also highly effective as an anti-condensation, mould, with the possibility to save costs in not having to apply distinct products, even in very difficult situations and critical applications

Are toxic products?
Our products are absolutely non-toxic. Are all water based with zero VOCS.

What is the reaction-to-fire?
Our thermal insulating are self-extinguishing, we also have fire-retardant versions in class REI.

It is possible to combine the different systems?

Shield Coat Systems con be overlap each other in order to create systems to various situations.

Some examples:

You can apply 4 mm of insulation Shield Coat 250 or 600 mm and 4 mm of Shield Coat Fireproof in order to have have a thermal protection and fire protection.

You can apply 6 mm of insulation Shield Coat 250 or 600 mm and with 2 mm of consolidating finish / high-strenght finish, to have a thermal protection combined with a high quality finish and excellent mechanical resistance and with the color you want.

Our engineers will assess the best combination in order to solve your problems.
